CAU GSIS Hosts Special Lecture by Minister Counselor Ma Guisheng: 

“Opening a New Chapter in Korea–China Educational Cooperation” 

국제대학원, 마귀생 공사참사관 초청 특강… "한·중 교육 협력의 새 지평"

On June 12, the Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS) at Chung-Ang University hosted a special lecture in Room 703 of Building 301 by Ma Guisheng, Minister Counselor for Education at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the Republic of Korea, under the theme “Chinese Education and Korea–China Educational Exchange.”

국제대학원은 지난 6월 12일(금) 301관 703호에서 마귀생(馬貴生) 주한중국대사관 교육 공사참사관을 초청해 ‘중국 교육과 중·한 교육 교류’를 주제로 특별 강연을 개최했다.

Prior to the lecture, Executive Vice President Kim Chang-bong and Minister Counselor Ma held a tea meeting to discuss future cooperation in the field of education, including collaboration between universities in Korea and China. Professors Jung-soon Lee and Ma Guozhen of the Korean-Chinese department of Advanced Interpretation and Translation Program (AITP) also attended the meeting and explored practical ways to promote academic exchange.

강연에 앞서 김창봉 행정부총장과 마귀생 공사참사관은 차담회를 갖고 양국 대학 간 협력을 포함한 교육 분야의 미래지향적 관계 발전에 대해 깊이 있는 대화를 나눴다. 이 자리에는 이정순·마국진 한·중 통번역학과 교수가 배석하여 실질적인 교류 증진 방안을 모색했다.

Organized by Professor Jung-soon Lee of the Korean-Chinese department, the lecture attracted approximately 70 participants, including second-year students from the AITP and students from the Communication University of China (CUC).

이정순 한·중 통번역학과 교수의 주관으로 진행된 이번 특강에는 전문통번역학과 2학년 재학생과 중국 전매대학교(中国传媒大学) 학생 등 약 70여 명이 참석했다. 

Drawing on his expertise in education, Minister Counselor Ma outlined the major historical developments that have shaped China’s education system and introduced the country’s ongoing efforts to modernize education and expand its digital smart education infrastructure. His insights resonated strongly with the audience.

마 공사참사관은 교육 전문가로서의 견해를 바탕으로 중국 교육의 역사를 관통하는 핵심 흐름을 짚어내고 현재 중국이 추진 중인 교육 현대화 전략과 디지털 스마트 교육 인프라 구축 현황을 상세히 소개하며 청중의 깊은 공감을 이끌어냈다.

He further emphasized that “education in the AI era is returning to its fundamental purpose—not merely the transmission of knowledge, but the cultivation of competencies and character.” He encouraged students to pursue holistic personal development, engage in innovative, practice-oriented exploration, and broaden their global perspectives.

이어 그는 "AI 시대의 교육은 단순 지식 주입이 아닌 '역량 강화와 인격 함양'이라는 본질로 회귀하고 있다"고 강조하며, 학생들이 향후 전면적인 자기 발전과 현장 중심의 혁신적 탐구, 글로벌 시야를 확보해야 할 필요성을 역설했다.

Addressing a question on how to strengthen Korea–China educational exchanges, Ma noted that “cooperation must go beyond simple people-to-people exchanges and focus on strategic sectors that will drive the development of both countries.” He particularly highlighted the importance of joint research and talent development in next-generation industries such as artificial intelligence (AI), advanced materials, and biotechnology.

향후 한·중 교육 교류를 어떻게 강화할 것인가라는 질문에 마 공사참사관은 “단순 인적 교류를 넘어 양국 발전을 견인할 전략 분야에서의 협력이 필수적”이라며, “특히 인공지능(AI), 신소재, 바이오 등 차세대 첨단 산업 분야의 공동 연구와 인재 육성을 통해 양국 교육 협력을 한층 강화해야 한다”고 강조했다.

The lecture was delivered in Chinese, with students from the AITP’s Korean-English, Korean-Chinese, and Korean-Russian majors providing simultaneous interpretation in English, Korean, and Russian, respectively.

이번 특강은 중국어로 진행됐으며, 전문통번역학과 한·영, 한·중, 한·러 전공 재학생들이 각각 영어·한국어·러시아어로 피봇 동시통역을 지원했다.
