국제대학원, 미얀마 학생대상 온라인 국제학 디플로마과정 워크숍 개최

 On December 16, the Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS) held a workshop at the University of Yangon in Myanmar, in conjunction with its online International Studies Diploma Program for Myanmar students. The workshop focused on assessing Myanmar’s key political and economic challenges and exploring development strategies for Myanmar in the era of U.S.–China strategic competition. The program consisted of presentations by participating faculty members followed by student discussions. Professor Tae Hyun Kim, Emeritus Professor of International Studies and Program director, delivered a presentation entitled “Non-Alignment 3.0: Myanmar’s Foreign Policy in a Reshuffling World.” Sun Eae Chun, Dean of GSIS, presented on “Myanmar Development Strategy.”

 국제대학원은 지난 12월 16일, 미얀마 학생을 대상으로 한 온라인 국제학 디플로마 과정과 연계하여 미얀마 양곤대학교에서 워크숍을 개최하였다. 본 워크숍은 미얀마의 주요 정치‧경제 현안을 진단하고, 미‧중 경쟁 시대 속에서 미얀마의 발전 전략을 모색하는 것을 주제로, 참여 교수진의 발표와 학생 토론으로 구성되어 진행되었다. 본 사업의 책임을 맡고 있는 국제학과 김태현 명예교수는 “Non-Alignment 3.0: Myanmar’s Foreign Policy in a Reshuffling World”를 주제로 발표하였으며, 전선애 국제대학원장은 “Myanmar Development Strategy”를 주제로 발표하였다.

 Since 2013, the GSIS has continuously provided education in the field of international relations for faculty members and experts at the University of Yangon as part of the Korea International Cooperation Agency’s (KOICA) Capacity Building Program for Development Planning in Developing Countries. In 2015, GSIS established the Korea Institute of International Studies (KIS) at the University of Yangon (Director: Professor Tae Hyun Kim), and has since carried out a wide range of academic and educational activities. With support from the Korea Foundation, the program has been operated on an annual basis—except for a three-year suspension during the COVID-19 pandemic—and this year marks the training of its 10th cohort. The current year’s program was conducted in an online format.

 국제대학원은 2013년부터 KOICA의 개도국 개발기획역량강화 사업의 일환으로 미얀마 양곤대학교 교수진과 전문가를 대상으로 국제관계 분야 교육을 지속해 왔다. 2015년에는 양곤대학교 내에 국제학 한국센터(Korea Institute of International Studies, KIS)를 설립하고(소장: 김태현 교수), 이후 다양한 학술·교육 활동을 이어오고 있다. 이후, Korea Foundation의 후원으로 코로나19 기간 3년을 제외하고 매년 해당 과정을 운영해 왔으며, 올해로 제10기생을 교육하고 있다. 올해 과정은 온라인 방식으로 전환하여 진행되었다.

 In addition, on December 18, a luncheon seminar was held at Yangon University of Foreign Languages with Myanmar faculty members to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Myanmar.

 또한 12월 18일에는 양곤외국어대학교를 방문하여 미얀마 교수진과 함께 한–미얀마 수교 50주년을 기념하는 런치 세미나를 개최하였다.
