GSIS Hosts Special Lecture with Consul General Zhong Hongnuo: “Chung-Ang University Is a Key Platform for Korea–China Talent Exchange”

국제대학원, 중훙눠 총영사 초청 강연… “중앙대는 한·중 인재 교류의 중요한 플랫폼”

The Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS) hosted a special lecture titled “China’s New Leap Forward: International Cooperation and Development Strategies” on Friday, November 21, in Room 703 of Building 301. The speaker was Zhong Hongnuo, Minister-Counselor and Consul General of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Korea.

국제대학원은 2025년 11월 21일(금) 301관 703호에서 중훙눠(鐘洪糯) 주한 중국대사관 공사참사관 겸 총영사를 초청해 ‘중국, 새로운 도약과 국제 협력·발전 전략 제시’를 주제로 특별 강연을 개최했다.

Prior to the lecture, Consul General Zhong met with Chung-Ang University (CAU) Vice President for Academic Affairs Kwang-Yong Park to discuss expanding student exchanges between Korea and China, noting the pivotal role CAU has long played in this endeavor. Professors Tae-Hyun Kim and Joong-Bum Shin of the ISP program, Professor Hye-Jin Jun of the Korean-Russian department and Professor Kuk-Jin Ma of the Korean-Chinese department, also attended the meeting. Professor Ma interpreted the proceedings.

강연에 앞서 중 총영사는 박광용 교학부총장과의 회동에서 한·중 학생 교류 확대의 중요성과 중앙대학교가 수행해온 중추적 역할을 강조하며 환담을 나눴다. 이 자리에는 김태현·신중범 국제학과 교수, 전혜진 한·러 통번역학과 교수, 마국진 한·중 통번역학과 교수가 함께했으며 마국진 교수의 통역으로 활발한 논의가 이어졌다.

A GSIS alumnus himself, Consul General Zhong reflected that his academic experience at GSIS laid an important foundation for his career as a diplomat. Throughout the lecture, he expressed a deep sense of pride in his alma mater and affection for the university.

중 총영사는 중앙대 국제대학원 동문으로, 국제대학원에서의 학업 경험이 외교관으로 성장하는 데 큰 밑거름이 되었다고 소회를 밝히며, 특강에서는 동문으로서의 긍지와 학교에 대한 애정을 강연 내내 강조하였다.

The event was organized by Professor Qi-Meng Wang of the Korean-Chinese department. Approximately 70 participants, including second-year students of the AITP program and students from the Communication University of China, attended, getting firsthand experience of international exchange in action.

이번 강연은 왕기맹 한·중 통번역학과 교수 주관으로 진행됐으며 전문통번역학과 2학년 재학생과 중국 전매대학교(中国传媒大学) 학생 등 약 70명이 참석해 국제 교류의 현장을 경험했다. 

During the lecture, Consul General Zhong discussed President Xi Jinping’s recent visit to Korea, the first in 11 years, which took place on the occasion of the APEC meetings in Gyeongju. He explained how the visit reaffirmed the two countries’ strategic cooperative partnership and highlighted future potential for bilateral cooperation across economic, cultural, and industrial fields. In particular, he stressed that visa-free travel and expanded people-to-people exchanges will further strengthen cooperation, especially among students and youths.

강연에서 중훙눠 총영사는 시진핑 중국 국가주석의 최근 경주 APEC 참석을 계기로 한 11년 만의 방한 성과와 의미를 소개했다. 그는 이번 방한이 양국 전략적 협력관계를 재확인하는 계기가 되었음을 언급하며, 경제·인문·산업 분야에서의 긴밀한 협력과 양국의 미래 발전 가능성을 설명했다. 특히 한중 무비자 정책과 인적 교류 확대를 언급하며 학생과 청년들의 활발한 교류가 양국 협력 확대에 기여한다고 강조했다.

He then introduced the key outcomes of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, outlining China’s economic, technological, and social development plans for the next five years. He also presented China’s strategies for broader openness, its consular services, and future directions for expanding exchanges with foreign nationals, international cooperation, global investment, and talent exchange. His remarks gave attendees a clear picture of China’s development strategies and global engagement policies.

이어 중국 공산당 20기 4중전회의 주요 내용과 향후 5년 경제·사회 발전 계획을 소개하며 중국이 추진할 경제·기술·사회 분야의 미래 비전을 구체적으로 제시했다. 또한 중국의 개방 확대 전략과 영사 업무도 함께 설명하며 외국인과의 교류 확대, 국제 협력 강화, 글로벌 투자와 인재 교류 계획을 소개했다. 참석자들은 중국의 발전 전략과 국제 협력 구상을 보다 명확히 이해할 수 있었다.

Consul General Zhong concluded by emphasizing that “China’s door is always open.” He encouraged students to explore opportunities in China and urged international students to devote themselves to their studies so they may contribute to society and national development. He expressed hope that the lecture would help attendees better understand China’s policies and vision for the future and see how international exchange is essential to those.

끝으로 중 총영사는 “중국의 문은 언제나 열려 있다”며 참석자들이 중국에서 다양한 기회를 경험하고 유학생들은 학업에 정진해 사회와 국가 발전에 기여할 것을 당부했다. 또한 이번 강연이 참석자들에게 중국의 정책과 미래 비전을 직접 확인하고 국제 교류의 가치를 체감하는 뜻깊은 시간이 되길 바란다고 밝혔다.

The Q&A session that followed covered topics such as the implications of China’s development strategies for businesses and youth as well as prospective areas of bilateral cooperation. Consul General Zhong noted that China’s focus on emerging industries and youth talent development will further deepen Korea–China collaboration in artificial intelligence, biotechnology, green industries, education and culture.

강연 후 진행된 질의응답에서는 중국의 발전 전략이 기업과 청년층에 미치는 영향과 향후 한중 협력 분야에 대한 질문이 이어졌다. 중 총영사는 신산업과 청년 인재 육성을 중심으로 한 중국의 전략이 양국 간 협력과 교류를 한층 강화할 것이라고 답하며, 특히 인공지능, 생명공학, 친환경 산업과 교육·문화 분야에서 협력이 활발히 이루어질 것으로 전망했다.

The lecture was delivered in Chinese, with pivot simultaneous interpreting provided by AITP students majoring in Korean-English, Korean-Chinese, and Korean-Russian interpretation.

이번 특강은 중국어로 진행됐으며, 전문통번역학과 한·영, 한·중, 한·러 전공 재학생들이 각각 영어·한국어·러시아어로 피봇 동시통역을 지원했다.
