GSIS hosts a Forum on Cooperation among Korea, China, and Japan under the APEC framework

국제대학원, APEC 체제 속 한·중·일 협력의 현주소에 대한 포럼 개최

The Graduate School of International Studies (GSIS) hosted a special lecture titled “Cooperation among Korea, China, and Japan under the APEC framework” with Yan Liang, Deputy Secretary-General of Trilateral Cooperation Secretariat (TCS), on Friday, November 14, at 3 p.m. in Room 703 of Building 301. The lecture was organized by Professor Hye-Jin Jun of the Korean-Russian department and was joined by Professor Gook-Jin Ma of the Korean-Chinese department.

국제대학원은 지난 2025년 11월 14일(금) 오후 3시, 301관 703호에서 옌량（颜亮） 한중일 3국협력사무국(TCS) 사무차장을 초청해 ‘APEC 체제 속 한·중·일 3국 협력 방안’을 주제로 특별 강연을 개최했다. 이번 강연은 전혜진 한·러 통번역학과 교수 주관으로 진행되었으며 마국진 한·중 통번역학과 교수도 함께 자리했다.

Prior to the lecture, Deputy Secretary-General Yan paid a courtesy visit to the President of Chung-Ang University (CAU) to discuss expanding exchanges between CAU and the TCS. Professor Ma served as the Korean-Chinese interpreter for the meeting.

특강에 앞서 옌량차장은 총장님을 방문하여, 본교와 한중일 3국협력사무국(TCS)의 교류 확대에 대한 환담을 나누었으며, 총장님의 한중통역은 국제대학원 마국진교수가 맡았다.

Approximately 70 attendees including second-year students from the AITP program and students from the Communication University of China (CUC) joined the event. As the lecture was delivered in Chinese, students provided simultaneous interpreting through a Chinese-Korean pivot, allowing all participants to follow the discussions on regional cooperation.

또한 전문통번역학과 2학년 재학생과 중국 전매대학교(中国传媒大学) 학생 등 약 70명이 참석해 국제적 교류의 장을 함께했다. 특히 이번 강연은 중국어로 진행되어 피봇 동시통역을 통해 참석자 모두가 국제 협력 논의 내용을 이해하며 경험할 수 있는 기회가 되었다.

During the lecture, Mr. Yan highlighted the significance and challenges of trilateral cooperation between Korea, China, and Japan, particularly in light of APEC 2025 Gyeongju meetings. He outlined the structure of existing trilateral cooperation, reviewed the outcomes of recent summit- and ministerial-level meetings, and presented future directions for trilateral collaboration. He also introduced TCS’s role in supporting Korea–China–Japan cooperation and its major programs.

옌량 사무차장은 이번 강연에서 APEC 2025 경주 회의를 계기로 부각되는 한·중·일 3국 협력의 의미와 과제를 설명하고, 3국 협력 구조와 최근 정상회의·장관급 회의 성과, 향후 협력 방향, 아울러 한·중·일 협력을 지원하는 TCS의 역할과 주요 행사도 함께 소개했다.

Key achievements among APEC member economies included the signing of seven Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs), the establishment of economic cooperation plans, renewals of currency swaps, strengthened cross-border crime responses, and revitalized cultural and tourism exchanges. With regard to trilateral cooperation, Mr. Yan emphasized the expansion of people-to-people exchanges, the enhancement of university student programs, and the planned designation of 2025-2026 as the “Years of Cultural Exchange among Korea, China and Japan.” He also noted the benefits of RCEP for trade and regional stability and importance of addressing global challenges. Relevant discussions will continue during the APEC 2026 Summit in Shenzhen, China.

APEC 회원국 간 성과로는 7건의 양해각서 체결, 경제협력 계획 수립, 통화스와프 갱신, 국경 범죄 대응 강화, 문화·관광 교류 활성화 등이 꼽혔다. 한·중·일 3국 협력과 관련해서는 인적 교류 확대, 대학생 프로그램 강화, 2025~2026년 ‘한·중·일 문화교류의 해’ 지정 계획이 소개됐다. 아울러 RCEP를 통한 무역 혜택과 지역 안정, 글로벌 과제 대응도 강조되며 관련 논의는 2026년 APEC 중국 선전 정상회의에서도 재개될 예정이다.

The TCS supports trilateral cooperation with the goals of fostering lasting peace, shared prosperity and cultural understanding, while operating various youth programs and cultural and educational exchanges. During the lecture, students engaged in quizzes designed to enhance participation and understanding, with TCS mascot dolls awarded as prizes. In the Q&A session, participants asked questions about the competencies required for careers in international organizations and sought advice on career development.

TCS는 지속적 평화와 공동 번영, 문화 공유를 목표로 한·중·일 3국 협력을 지원하며 청년 프로젝트와 문화·교육 교류 등 다양한 행사를 운영하고 있다. 강연 중간에는 참석자들이 퀴즈에 참여하며 몰입과 이해도를 높였고 퀴즈 상품으로 TCS 마스코트 인형이 전달되기도 했다. 질의응답 시간에는 참석자들이 국제기구 취업에 필요한 인재상과 진로 전략에 대해 질문을 이어갔다.

The lecture was conducted in Chinese, with AITP students from the Korean-English, Korean-Chinese, and Korean-Russian majors providing simultaneous interpreting into their respective languages via the Chinese-language pivot.

이번 특강은 중국어로 진행됐으며, 전문통번역학과 한·영, 한·중, 한·러 전공 재학생들이 각각 영어·한국어·러시아어로 피봇 동시통역을 지원했다.
