US-China Relations in the Trump 2.0 Era 

국제대학원은 지난 4월 2일 (수) 301관 703호에서 서울대학교 명예교수이자 한국외교협회 윤순구 교수(前 주 EU 및 NATO 대사)를 초청해 ‘US-China Relations in the Trump 2.0 Era(트럼프 2.0 시대의 미-중 관계)’를 주제로 특별 강연을 개최했다.

On April 2, the Graduate School of International Studies hosted a special lecture titled “US-China Relations in the Trump 2.0 Era” in Room 703 of Building 301. The event featured Professor Soon-gu Yoon, Professor Emeritus at Seoul National University and former Ambassador to the European Union and NATO, who GSIS invited to give a special lecture on the evolving geopolitical landscape.

이번 특강에서 윤순구 교수는 트럼프 대통령이 재집권함에 따른 지정학적 긴장, 경제적 경쟁, 그리고 국제 규범 질서에 미치는 파장 등을 중심으로 다양한 관점을 제시하였으며, 특히, 미국과 중국의 패권전쟁 및 양국의 관계가 어떤 구조적 도전에 직면하고 있는지를 분석했다. 

During the lecture, Professor Yoon pointed out the potential implications of the Trump 2.0 era, focusing on heightened geopolitical tensions, intensified economic competition, and the disruption of international norms and order. He analyzed the ongoing hegemonic war between the United States and China, highlighting the structural challenges that underpin their bilateral relationship.

강연은 크게 글로벌 권력 전이와 그 이론적 해석, 미-중 간 현안과 갈등 이슈, 트럼프 2.0 시대의 주요 정책 변화, 중국의 대응 및 전략과 변화하는 국제 질서 속에서의 전망 주제로 구성되었으며, 참가자들은 동아시아 및 국제정치에 대한 깊이 있는 통찰을 공유할 수 있는 기회를 가졌다.  또한 윤순구 교수는 강연 중 주요 국가들의 실제 정책 변화와 발언들을 언급하며, 현재 진행 중인 정세를 다각도로 해석할 수 있는 기준을 제공하였다. 강연 후에는 참석자들과의 질의응답 시간을 통해 주요 이슈에 대한 활발한 논의가 이어졌다.

The lecture was structured around several key themes: theoretical interpretations of global power transition, pressing issues and points of conflict between the U.S. and China, major policy shifts under the second Trump administration, China’s strategy and responses, and the broader outlook for the international order. Attendees gained valuable insights into East Asian affairs and global politics, with Professor Yoon drawing on real-world policy developments and public statements from key nations to offer a multifaceted perspective on current events. Following the lecture, a dynamic Q&A session was held, allowing for in-depth discussion on critical issues raised during the presentation.

한편, 이번 특강은 전문통번역학과 한·영, 한·중, 한·러 2학년 재학생들이 전공언어로 동시통역을 지원했다.

Meanwhile, second-year students from the AITP provided simultaneous interpretation in Korean-English, Korean-Chinese, and Korean-Russian.
